Why did ESPN and Sports Illustrated keep making fun of the Gerald Laird trade?

In the beginning of the winter meetings the first move was Gerald Laird being traded. ESPN and SI made like a thousand jokes about the winter meetings getting off to a roaring start. and yesterday on ESPN radio i heard some idiot make another joke about it. when will they learn, nobody gives a crap about Gerald Laird AT ALL? Just like Slappy LaRue needs to learn nobody cares about Corky Miller.

5. The Winter Meetings were pretty slow this year and the media was just looking for something to talk about. Laird is a slightly above average starting catcher. He can throw runners out and he has a good hitter's eye and can make contact.
