Why do women volleyball athletes wear tight shorts whereas women basketball athletes wear ugly baggy ones?

Beach volleyball and basketball are extremes in women's sports. In one they wear next to nothing and inthe other they wear too much! WHy don't all women's teams follow the example of women's indoor volleyball where they wear tasteful and sexy clothing?

2. beach volleyball players have always worn bikinis and the men beach volleyball players wear board shorts. its just the way its been. way before it was an olympic sport if you want to call it that. but really its all about showing woemn in bikinis on tv for ratings. whats next olympic darts or beer bong?? maybe olympic fuzzball. Its BEACH volleyball they play in 6 inches of sand! can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be if the beach volleyball women wore the jerseys, shorts, knee pads etc that the indoor player wear. really that would be worse. they wear the bikinis because of the sand! not to be naked if you want to get really offended check out the mens diving team and the micro speedos showing 2 inches of butt crack !!
3. Basketball is a much more contact orientated sport. If they wore tight fighting clothes they would suffer from all kinds of funky "wardrobe malfunctions".
4. well its beach volleyball so they wear bathing suits! and they need to be able to move around and i find that's its easier to ware something tight when playing volleyball! and in basketball its easier to move around when you are warring baggy clothing! and the only reason you thik that the clothes they ware are "tasteful and sexy" is bc it is tight and they have to ware that stuff bc its easier to move around in! i hope that i could help you understand the clothing for these 3 sports!
5. because in basketball if we wore such tight pants they would be incredibly uncomfortable and we would always have wedgies. in basketball you are constantly running, jumping, and making quick movements and loose pants make this sooooo much easier. and sports uniforms arent about being sexy, they need to be practical
6. If you paid attention to the Olympics you would have noticed that some teams, like the Australian team, wore tight uniforms. In fact, they were tighter than indoor volleyball uniforms.
7. we have better butts to show off JK :] its because unlike basketball players... we have to dive on the wood floor. we can't risk having and long shorts get in the way or get caught on anything... or create the wrong kind of friction on the floor.
